Frontal · Ramp
We pulled the live LinkedIn Ad Library sets for Ramp, Brex, Navan, Expensify, BILL and SAP Concur, kept only US-targeted ads (foreign-market campaigns for Paris, DACH, Benelux, the Nordics and Japan were dropped), classified every ad by its real type, and rebuilt the most telling creatives as full mockups below.
01 · The ad mix by format
Type is derived per ad, not taken from the raw scrape field: a Thought Leader Ad is detected by a person's headshot in the advertiser logo (the Ad Library shows the paying company, so we say 'none identifiable' rather than 'zero'); personalized means dynamic %FIRSTNAME%-macro copy; document, event and job ads come from their format fields. Percentages are shares of each advertiser's US-kept set.
| Advertiser | US ads kept | Single image | Video | Document | Personalized | Event | Job ads | Thought Leader | Other |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ramp (you) | 100 | 99% | 1% | 0% | 0% | 0% | 0% | none identifiable | 0% |
| Brex | 100 | 55% | 31% | 7% | 0% | 0% | 1% | none identifiable | 6% |
| Navan | 77 | 22% | 18% | 0% | 0% | 1% | 49% | none identifiable | 9% |
| Expensify | 24 | 100% | 0% | 0% | 0% | 0% | 0% | none identifiable | 0% |
| BILL | 100 | 64% | 0% | 0% | 4% | 0% | 0% | 1 ad (1%) | 31% |
| SAP Concur | 81 | 12% | 10% | 20% | 51% | 0% | 0% | none identifiable | 7% |
SAP Concur puts 20% of its US set into document ads (gated templates, checklists, research briefs) and Brex runs 7%. Ramp runs none. Competitors leaning on the format this heavily is a strong signal it earns finance-buyer attention in this category, and it is a cost-efficient way to buy top-of-funnel engagement.
Across all five competitors' kept ads, exactly one Thought Leader Ad exists: BILL's incoming CTO Eric Chan promoting his own article. Ramp has none identifiable. The person-fronted lane is effectively empty while the topic pulls outlier organic engagement (see the creators page).
SAP Concur cites an IDC customer study, FT-partnered research and 7,000+ G2 reviewers in 22 of 81 kept ads; Navan leads with "#1 in T&E in the 2026 G2 Grid Report"; Brex pays to run WSJ and Forbes editorial video. Ramp's proof today is its own customer-savings headlines.
Brex offers a Yeti cooler or AirPods Pro 3 for a demo in 18 of 100 kept ads, BILL offers $100 Amazon gift cards and a Blackstone Griddle, and Ramp runs the same mechanic with its Blackstone Grill. Nobody wins on incentives here; proof and formats are the open levers.
02 · Competitor by competitor
Voice: Loud, playful and AI-forward: 'agentic finance' in almost every product line, demo-gift hooks (Yeti cooler, AirPods Pro 3 in 18 of 100 kept ads), sports-flavored brand plays (an F1/McLaren tie-in via WSJ, NYC watch parties), and scale claims like '35,000+ finance teams trust Brex'. No analyst citations; Brex buys co-branded editorial video instead.

Voice: Functional T&E ROI copy (visibility, adoption, leakage, all-in-one) with review-proof swagger: 'Real users really love us', '#1 in T&E in the 2026 G2 Grid Report', a Rapha case study, and a practitioner panel with Opteva and Wabtec. Note the mix: 38 of 77 kept ads are recruiting job ads, so Navan's actual US brand set is 39 ads, the second-smallest in the set.

Voice: Calm, single-minded declarative copy built on one wedge aimed straight at card-first platforms like Ramp and Brex: switching cards is the real cost, so keep your existing cards, points and cashback, and let Expensify automate the workflow on top. All 24 kept ads are single image, so the three picks are three distinct creatives of that one format: the accountant-rollout, rewards-keeper and enterprise-controls angles.

Voice: Accountant-firm-first offer copy: scale your firm's AP and CAS practice, backed by BILL's own survey of 200+ firm leaders (its top survey creative ran 24 flights), webinar series, and a gift card or griddle sweetening every demo. And the one move nobody else in the category makes: a real Thought Leader Ad from its incoming CTO's personal profile.

Voice: Enterprise authority with personalization at scale: over half the kept set is %FIRSTNAME%/%JOBTITLE% dynamic copy aimed at CFO-track finance leaders, stacked with third-party numbers (an IDC customer study, FT-partnered research briefs, 7,000+ G2 reviewers, TrustRadius 2026 awards), gated templates and checklists as document ads, and switch-story ads that name Ramp directly.

03 · Your ads today
All targeting data in your pull reads 'North America'. The set already uses customer proof inside the creative (Vox Media and Palmetto savings headlines, Shopify, Notion, Figma and CBRE logos, a 'Cursor, Notion, Perplexity, and Vercel run on Ramp' line), and 10 of the 16 unique creatives push the construction vertical. What the set does not have: a single person-fronted ad. The named-executive quotes on ramp.com/customers are not running as ads.
Voice: Customer-savings headlines told as 'The CFO Gazette' fictional front pages, logo walls of recognizable customers, an 'in the blink of AI' platform line, a construction vertical push, and a Blackstone Grill demo incentive. Confident and proof-heavy, but every proof point is company-voiced.
